Wastewater treatment plants require properly functioning pipelines. After all, these are the connecting lifelines between the various treatment steps in the process for treating wastewater and the sludge produced in the process. comprex enables simple and risk-free maintenance.
The problem
Every major wastewater treatment plant has hundreds of meters of piping to transport water and sludge through the various treatment stages. All wastewater treatment processes produce large quantities of sewage sludge.
In the primary sludge pipes, but also in excess sludge pipes, grease pipes, thick sludge pipes and centrate pipes, very sticky deposits form again and again during operation.
These narrow the cross-section and minimize the delivery capacity of the pumps. The result: complete clogging of the line and failure of units or cleaning stages.
The solution:
Pipes in sewage treatment plants can usually be cleaned with comprex without any problems. The necessary connections are usually already in place and impulses of air and water (service water) can be used to effectively remove deposits.
For particularly stubborn deposits or hard, crystalline consistency, adding rock salt to your pulse flush is another way to restore your plumbing.

Step 1 Analysis & planning
We work with you to plan the optimum cleaning operation – individually tailored to your business, the condition of the pipes and your objectives.
Pipes in sewage treatment plants can usually be cleaned quickly and easily with comprex. Storz-C flush connections are usually already in place at the required locations or nearby.
Step 2 Preparation
We plan the cleaning sections together with you, determine the entry and exit points and take care of all the logistics. Our team of technicians will come to you with the right equipment and stay on site for the duration of the project.

Step 3 Cleaning & commissioning
In addition to our comprex air, only your process water is used as a working medium. The water can easily be fed into sumps, basins or containers. As a rule, cleaning does not require any conversions or decommissioning. The pumping times and feed rates of the various clarification processes are taken into account. Cleaning is carried out using pulses of compressed air and water(Comprex®) introduced into the section to be cleaned.
Deposits are reliably removed – without chemicals and with minimal water consumption. Once the cleaning measures have been completed, we return the system to normal operation ready for use.

How does cleaning with Comprex® work?
The process works with specifically controlled air-water pulses. These move through the pipe at high speed (up to 70 km/h) and generate strong shear and drag forces. This efficiently mobilizes and removes deposits, biofilms and solids – completely without chemicals and with minimal use of water.
Is cleaning with Comprex® suitable for all types of pipes?
Comprex® is suitable for a wide range of pressure pipes in wastewater technology – whether long transportation routes, pipes with large nominal diameters or sections with difficult hydraulics. Cleaning is individually tailored to the pipe length, material and conditions on site.
Can cleaning be carried out during operation?
Depending on the system structure, cleaning during partial operation is also possible. Our team will check the technical and operational requirements with you in advance – including bypass solutions or temporary detour.
How long does cleaning take?
The duration depends on the length, dimensions and degree of soiling of the pipe. Smaller sections can often be cleaned in one day, but for larger projects we plan the process in stages – efficiently and with minimal interruption.
How is the cleaning effect verified?
We document the discharge results visually and – if required – with additional measurement technology (e.g. turbidity data). This allows you to track and document the success of the measure.
What distinguishes Comprex® from a normal water flush?
In contrast to pure water flushing, Comprex® generates a significantly higher cleaning performance thanks to the impulse effect. This creates targeted forces that reliably remove even stubborn deposits and biofilms – effectively and in a resource-saving manner.
