Typical challenges - and how we solve them
Water-miscible and non-water-miscible cooling lubricants are used for cooling and lubrication in machining and grinding processes.
With Comprex®, we remove deposits and biofilms from your pipes – quickly, gently and generally without chemical additives. To ensure sustainable and safe operation, all flushing media are then collected and disposed of properly.
The problem
Deposits and lime soaps often occur in cooling lubricant systems as a result of hard water and oily components. These residues settle in pipes and impair the flow.
Water-mixed coolants are also susceptible to microbial growth: Heat, nutrients and stagnation promote the growth of microorganisms. This results in biofilms, odors and health risks such as skin and respiratory tract irritation.
Contamination and unstable emulsions significantly shorten the service life of the cooling lubricant – the lubricating and cooling effect is reduced, which has a negative impact on process reliability and tool service life.
The solution
We use Comprex® to clean emulsion lines and complex cooling lubricant pipe systems with specifically controlled air-water pulses.
This reliably dissolves solids, deposits and biofilms – without any chemicals and usually without downtime.
For special requirements, a compatible cleaning medium can also be used instead of water.
The method is gentle on materials and suitable for common pipe materials such as stainless steel, copper or plastic systems.
Central area of application:
Coolant lines in machining and grinding processes
The result
After cleaning, lime soaps and deposits are removed and the pipe cross-section, operational hygiene and process reliability are restored.
The service life of the cooling lubricant in a clean piping system is increased. The complete removal of lime soap prevents crystallization nuclei for new formation.
No chemical residues remain in the system. Tool wear is low, and constant cooling and lubrication properties ensure better dimensional accuracy of the workpieces and less tool wear.

"I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself at the Landau test center. In detailed trials cleaning our products in test pipelines, we reached up to 60% savings in cleaning time and up to 90% in water consumption."
"The MCU-300 from Hammann represents an important component of our innovative industrial hygiene concept. The system is used at Meffert AG both for flushing pipelines and for cleaning stand-alone systems.
The cooperation with the colleagues from Hammann has worked very well since the beginning of the project.
Project planning and commissioning were transparent and professional. All inquiries are processed promptly, and ideas and optimization requests are discussed openly with our technical department even months after commissioning.
The MCU300 is intuitive for our employees to operate, can be used almost anywhere due to its dimensions, and works very reliably."
"Before flushing the main pumping station, we had a pump runtime of almost 20 hours and a pumping capacity of 250 m³ of wastewater. As a result of the flushing action, we were able to determine that on some days we achieve a pumping capacity of 270 m³ of wastewater with a pump runtime of 15 hours. This clearly shows an improvement in the efficiency of our system.
"It is no longer possible to imagine our maintenance of injection molds without the cleaning technology from HAMMANN. The Comprex® cleaning is without alternative in very many applications. Thank you for the excellent and pragmatic service."
"The Hammann company was commissioned to clean the stainless steel gas pipe using their Comprex process. Success was already evident when the cleaning was carried out, as the escaping rinse water was heavily contaminated.
After cleaning and recommissioning, the aforementioned pressure fluctuations did not occur again. It was not easy to create the necessary inlet and outlet to the gas pipeline. It is also problematic to take a gas pipeline out of service for a longer period of time when there is no redundancy. Nevertheless, the effort was worth it, as the cleaning has had the desired effect."
"Our initial skepticism that comprex could be too intense for our piping system was unfounded. The pulse pressure always remains below the network pressure and so we don't have to worry about pipe bursts due to excessive pressure. The pulse flushing process can reduce the deposits in our old network so significantly that maintenance is absolutely economically viable compared to replacement."
"Our conclusion: The test of the Comprex® unit can be rated as thoroughly positive. The cleaning effect can be seen as very good, in some cases even blockages could be loosened. Due to the rather simple operation, the unit could be operated without any problems after the short instruction. No problems were encountered during the test phase.
At this point, we would like to thank you again for the test opportunity and the trust you have placed in us."
"We have had very good experiences with comprex and are very satisfied with the cooperation that has grown over the years. The Hammann GmbH technicians know our network, arrangements are quick and uncomplicated and the assignments are already a fixed part of our annual planning for network maintenance."

Frequently asked questions about cooling lubricant lines
How does cleaning with Comprex® work in cooling lubricant systems?

Comprex® generates dynamic air-water pulses that move through the pipes at high speed. This creates strong flow effects that reliably remove and remove deposits and biofilms – completely without chemicals.
Does production have to be interrupted for cleaning?

Not necessarily. Cleaning can often be integrated into planned breaks or maintenance windows. This keeps production downtime to a minimum and often eliminates the need for a complete shutdown.
If parallel operation is possible, cleaning does not have to be interrupted.
					 Which residues can be removed?

Typical residues such as biofilms, lime soap, oil and grease residues, limescale or particles are effectively removed. Even stubborn deposits in narrow pipes can be safely removed.
Is the cleaning process suitable for all system materials?

Yes, because Comprex® works purely physically, the method is gentle on the material and suitable for all common pipe materials such as stainless steel, copper, plastic or mixed systems.
How do we deal with the rinsing/disposal water and residues?

All rinsing media and residues resulting from the cleaning process are completely removed and properly collected. They are then disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner by authorized specialist companies or – if possible – treated internally and returned to the system.
This keeps operations safe, clean and legally compliant.
Are there any restrictions for particularly small nominal widths or highly interconnected/multi-level systems?

The Comprex® process can also clean complex, multi-storey or highly branched pipe systems. For very small nominal widths or branches that are difficult to access, however, the cleaning schedule is adapted individually to ensure an optimum pulse flow.
In rare cases, the use of additional flushing sections or temporary connection points may be necessary.
					 How long does cleaning take?

The cleaning time depends on the length and degree of soiling of the pipe. As a rule, cleaning only takes a few hours – significantly shorter than conventional chemical processes.
What advantages do I have after cleaning?

After cleaning, you benefit from stable flow rates, longer service life of the cooling lubricants and fewer unplanned downtimes. This reduces costs and ensures a permanently high level of process reliability.
