Typical challenges - and how we solve them
The highest hygienic requirements apply from the waterworks to the end consumer. Our aim is to ensure that you can always supply consumers with hygienically safe drinking water from clean pipes.
The problem
Despite the utmost care, deposits and biofilms form in drinking water networks due to stagnation, dead pipes or changing flow conditions. The water becomes cloudy, samples show abnormalities, metal pipes corrode and microorganisms colonize. Over time, the cross-section, flow rate and hygiene suffer – the flushing effort increases and the security of supply decreases.
The solution
We clean pipe systems with targeted pulses of compressed air and water. This powerfully loosens and removes deposits at up to 70 km/h – completely without chemicals. The process works gently below the system pressure and with minimal water consumption.
Typical areas of application:
-
Transport lines
 -
Lines in the distribution grid
 -
House connection lines (if required)

The result
The pipes are repaired both hygienically and hydraulically. The drinking water remains clear, operational safety is restored and future flushing measures can be reduced. This conserves resources, reduces costs and boosts consumer confidence.
How Comprex® changes your network quality in the long term
Comprex® reveals the otherwise invisible discharge. The results are measurable. Improved hydraulics, increased operational reliability and higher performance ensure energy-efficient and sustainable network operation.

Whether drinking water and waste water in municipalities, industrial piping systems or water pipes in buildings – each area has its own requirements. We work with you to develop a tailor-made cleaning solution that works, saves resources and delivers lasting results.
Fast, thorough, resource-saving - without chemicals

															Up to 10x faster
3 steps to a clean line
Step 1 Analysis & planning
We work with you to plan the optimum cleaning process – individually tailored to the network structure, objective and condition. We clarify whether Comprex®, extraQt® or a combination of both methods should be used.
As an option, we can also inspect gate valves and carry out technical condition surveys.
Step 2 Preparation
We take care of planning the cleaning sections, determining the feed-in and feed-out points and handling all the logistics for you. Our team of technicians will come to you with the appropriate equipment and remain on site for the duration of the project.
Details on our mobile cleaning systems and self-sufficient trailers for different nominal widths can be found here.
Step 3 Cleaning & commissioning
Cleaning is carried out using pulses of compressed air and water(Comprex®), which are introduced specifically into the section to be cleaned, or via accelerated flow(extraQt®). Deposits are reliably removed – without chemicals and with minimal water consumption. On request, we can document the turbidity values and return the system to normal operation ready for use once the cleaning measures have been completed.
Fast, professional and ready for use: you book our service and our experienced team of technicians will come to you with the necessary equipment and carry out the cleaning for you – whether as a one-off or regularly as part of your maintenance concept.
Would you like to be independent and clean your pipe systems individually and regularly or integrate your own Comprex® cleaning system into your operating processes? No problem – we have the right system for you and will train your staff.
"I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself at the Landau test center. In detailed trials cleaning our products in test pipelines, we reached up to 60% savings in cleaning time and up to 90% in water consumption."
"The MCU-300 from Hammann represents an important component of our innovative industrial hygiene concept. The system is used at Meffert AG both for flushing pipelines and for cleaning stand-alone systems.
The cooperation with the colleagues from Hammann has worked very well since the beginning of the project.
Project planning and commissioning were transparent and professional. All inquiries are processed promptly, and ideas and optimization requests are discussed openly with our technical department even months after commissioning.
The MCU300 is intuitive for our employees to operate, can be used almost anywhere due to its dimensions, and works very reliably."
"Before flushing the main pumping station, we had a pump runtime of almost 20 hours and a pumping capacity of 250 m³ of wastewater. As a result of the flushing action, we were able to determine that on some days we achieve a pumping capacity of 270 m³ of wastewater with a pump runtime of 15 hours. This clearly shows an improvement in the efficiency of our system.
"It is no longer possible to imagine our maintenance of injection molds without the cleaning technology from HAMMANN. The Comprex® cleaning is without alternative in very many applications. Thank you for the excellent and pragmatic service."
"The Hammann company was commissioned to clean the stainless steel gas pipe using their Comprex process. Success was already evident when the cleaning was carried out, as the escaping rinse water was heavily contaminated.
After cleaning and recommissioning, the aforementioned pressure fluctuations did not occur again. It was not easy to create the necessary inlet and outlet to the gas pipeline. It is also problematic to take a gas pipeline out of service for a longer period of time when there is no redundancy. Nevertheless, the effort was worth it, as the cleaning has had the desired effect."
"Our initial skepticism that comprex could be too intense for our piping system was unfounded. The pulse pressure always remains below the network pressure and so we don't have to worry about pipe bursts due to excessive pressure. The pulse flushing process can reduce the deposits in our old network so significantly that maintenance is absolutely economically viable compared to replacement."
"Our conclusion: The test of the Comprex® unit can be rated as thoroughly positive. The cleaning effect can be seen as very good, in some cases even blockages could be loosened. Due to the rather simple operation, the unit could be operated without any problems after the short instruction. No problems were encountered during the test phase.
At this point, we would like to thank you again for the test opportunity and the trust you have placed in us."
"We have had very good experiences with comprex and are very satisfied with the cooperation that has grown over the years. The Hammann GmbH technicians know our network, arrangements are quick and uncomplicated and the assignments are already a fixed part of our annual planning for network maintenance."

Frequently asked questions about cleaning drinking water pipes
How does cleaning with Comprex® work?

The patented process uses targeted air-water pulses that move through the pipes at high speed (up to 70 km/h). This creates strong shear forces that loosen deposits and biofilms – without chemicals and with minimal water consumption.
Is cleaning with Comprex® suitable for all types of pipes?

Yes, the procedure is suitable for HW and AW, i.e. main and connecting pipes, regardless of material and age, both in existing and new buildings.
Can cleaning be carried out during operation?

In the affected cleaning section, operation is interrupted for Comprex® cleaning. Upstream and downstream network sections are not affected. We will coordinate the procedure, time window and security of supply with you individually.
With a water-suction flush (extraQt®), the supply is generally not interrupted.
					 How long does cleaning take?

This depends on the length and complexity of the section. As a rule, several sections are possible in one day. We draw up a precise deployment plan in advance.
How is the cleaning effect verified?

When cleaning with Comprex® through turbidity monitoring.
With extraQt®, turbidity monitoring is also carried out online, and you also receive comprehensive documentation through parameter recording and digital photos.
					 What distinguishes Comprex® from a water-suction rinse?

Comprex® works with water-air pulses and is primarily used for heavy deposits, complex network structures and larger nominal widths.
The water-suction flushing system(extraQt®) uses only water and is ideal for regular network maintenance, light deposits/rust water, rinsing in accordance with DVGW W 291 and longer flushing sections.
