Typical challenges - and how we solve them
In heating circuits, industrial heating systems and district heating networks, deposits impair heat transfer, increase energy requirements and lead to uneven heat distribution. They are caused by corrosion and operating processes – often unnoticed. Targeted cleaning restores the optimum flow rate and ensures efficient, reliable systems.
The problem
Corrosion, limescale and dirt particles reduce the pipe cross-section and hinder heat transfer. The result: uneven heat distribution, higher energy consumption and rising operating costs. Particularly in branched heating circuits and long district heating lines, this leads to a considerable loss of efficiency and unnecessary material stress.
The solution
The Comprex® process works with dynamic air-water impulses that mechanically loosen and remove deposits and residues – without chemicals, without downtime and without material wear. This means that even complex or large systems can be cleaned reliably.
Typical areas of application:
-
Heating systems in buildings
-
Heating systems in the industry
-
Heating networks, e.g. district heating systems
The result
After cleaning, the original flow rate can be achieved again. Heat transfer and hydraulics improve significantly and energy consumption is reduced. Regular cleaning ensures efficient, reliable and low-maintenance heating and district heating systems in the long term.
Your advantages:
- Improved heat transfer
- Even heat distribution
- Reduced energy consumption
- Less maintenance work
- Operation without chemical additives

3 steps to a clean system
Step 1 Analysis & planning
Together with you, we check the structure and condition of your heating system. On this basis, we plan the optimum cleaning operation.
We are a reliable partner with our core competence, cleaning, in the context of energy-saving or conversion/renovation measures that institutes such as the IWW in Mülheim an der Ruhr or engineering firms with expertise in the sector plan, monitor and control.
Step 2 Preparation
We plan the cleaning sections, determine the entry and exit points and take care of all the logistics. Our team of technicians comes to you with the right equipment and stays on site for the duration of the project.
Details on our mobile cleaning systems and self-sufficient trailers for different nominal widths can be found here. We are also happy to implement permanently integrated solutions with you.
Step 3 Cleaning & commissioning
Using the plans drawn up, we use our Comprex® units to clean all cleaning sections one after the other with targeted air-water pulses. Deposits are removed gently – without any chemicals.
If required, we can record and document the discharge. We work with specialist companies such as Aquametasil from Essen to fill the heating system in accordance with VDI 2035.
Fast, professional and ready for use: Our experienced team will take care of the cleaning for you – whether as a one-off or regularly as part of your maintenance concept.
Would you like to use the Comprex® process yourself? No problem. Our mobile systems are available for hire – including instruction, accessories and technical support.
Would you like to permanently integrate your own Comprex® cleaning system into your operating processes? Whether mobile or stationary – we have the right system for you and will train your staff.
"I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself at the Landau test center. In detailed trials cleaning our products in test pipelines, we reached up to 60% savings in cleaning time and up to 90% in water consumption."
"The MCU-300 from Hammann represents an important component of our innovative industrial hygiene concept. The system is used at Meffert AG both for flushing pipelines and for cleaning stand-alone systems.
The cooperation with the colleagues from Hammann has worked very well since the beginning of the project.
Project planning and commissioning were transparent and professional. All inquiries are processed promptly, and ideas and optimization requests are discussed openly with our technical department even months after commissioning.
The MCU300 is intuitive for our employees to operate, can be used almost anywhere due to its dimensions, and works very reliably."
"Before flushing the main pumping station, we had a pump runtime of almost 20 hours and a pumping capacity of 250 m³ of wastewater. As a result of the flushing action, we were able to determine that on some days we achieve a pumping capacity of 270 m³ of wastewater with a pump runtime of 15 hours. This clearly shows an improvement in the efficiency of our system.
"It is no longer possible to imagine our maintenance of injection molds without the cleaning technology from HAMMANN. The Comprex® cleaning is without alternative in very many applications. Thank you for the excellent and pragmatic service."
"The Hammann company was commissioned to clean the stainless steel gas pipe using their Comprex process. Success was already evident when the cleaning was carried out, as the escaping rinse water was heavily contaminated.
After cleaning and recommissioning, the aforementioned pressure fluctuations did not occur again. It was not easy to create the necessary inlet and outlet to the gas pipeline. It is also problematic to take a gas pipeline out of service for a longer period of time when there is no redundancy. Nevertheless, the effort was worth it, as the cleaning has had the desired effect."
"Our initial skepticism that comprex could be too intense for our piping system was unfounded. The pulse pressure always remains below the network pressure and so we don't have to worry about pipe bursts due to excessive pressure. The pulse flushing process can reduce the deposits in our old network so significantly that maintenance is absolutely economically viable compared to replacement."
"Our conclusion: The test of the Comprex® unit can be rated as thoroughly positive. The cleaning effect can be seen as very good, in some cases even blockages could be loosened. Due to the rather simple operation, the unit could be operated without any problems after the short instruction. No problems were encountered during the test phase.
At this point, we would like to thank you again for the test opportunity and the trust you have placed in us."
"We have had very good experiences with comprex and are very satisfied with the cooperation that has grown over the years. The Hammann GmbH technicians know our network, arrangements are quick and uncomplicated and the assignments are already a fixed part of our annual planning for network maintenance."

Frequently asked questions about heating and district heating pipes
How does cleaning with Comprex® work?
The patented process uses specifically controlled air-water pulses that move through the pipes at high speed. This creates strong shearing and dragging forces that mobilize and remove deposits and residues – completely without chemicals and with minimal water consumption.
For which systems and materials is Comprex® suitable?
The process is suitable for all common pipe materials such as steel, stainless steel, copper, cast iron and plastic. It can be used in heating, process and district heating systems – without material wear or damage.
Which deposits are removed?
Comprex® removes rust, limescale, sludge and other operational residues that impair flow, heat transfer and efficiency.
How does Comprex® differ from a normal water flush?
While conventional flushing systems only use water, Comprex® combines specifically controlled air and water pulses. This results in significantly higher shear forces that remove deposits even from hard-to-reach areas – with minimal water consumption and without chemical additives.
How often should cleaning be carried out?
Depending on the type of system, water quality and operating conditions, preventive cleaning is recommended at intervals of several months to several years. This maintains heat transfer and energy efficiency in the long term and prevents unforeseen breakdowns.
How is the cleaning effect verified?
Success is proven by before-and-after comparisons of pressure loss, visual inspections (e.g. at flushing outlets) and documented flushing results. You also receive a cleaning log.
